When I tried to customize a window screen and I hit the design mode to on the window disappears and I am not able to modify it.
What do I need to do?

This is normal operation. The designer works with the WINDOW formats separately from the main screens.
When you go into design mode and the window disappears, look for a drop down box in the design toolbar. You can use this to switch between any WINDOW(s) and the main screen.
