It appears Atrium only stores the first 128 chars of a URL string I enter. It allows me to enter a longer one, saves without error, but when I go to use it or edit it, it is shortened to the first 128.
I need longer strings. What can I do about this?

Currently, that's the limit within Atrium. We will make sure to increase that limit within the next release or two.
