Re: my skin doesn't detect subfile
It's important to remember that Genie doesn't know for certain where a subfile is. The system just sends a screen with text on it for Genie to show to you. Based on where the text lies on that screen, Genie tries to guess whether there's a subfile, and style the screen appropriately.
There are options on each screen (as well as skin-wide in the Genie Administrator) where you can enable/disable subfile detection and pattern detection.
If subfile detection is turned off, it definitely won't find any subfiles. Make sure that it is turned on, at least for this screen.
If subfile pattern detection = true, Genie will search for repeating lines on the screen. It detects that a subfile is found when there are lines containing the same "pattern" (same fields) repeated on multiple lines.
If subfile pattern detection = false, Genie looks for common Subfile headers such as "Opt", and footers such as "More..." or "Bottom". It uses these to determine where a subfile is, and then styles it appropriately. You can configure the headers it looks for in the Genie Administrator.
Is it possible that you have subfile detection turned off? Or that you are using detect patterns, and there's only one line, and therefore it can't be detected? Or maybe that you have patterns turned off, and your subfile doesn't have the headers that Genie uses to detect?

Re: my skin doesn't detect subfile
Scott, I'm having the same problem. I have a screen that only has one line displayed, so it is not detecting it as a subfile. I went into Genie Admin and changed the "detect pattern" off and not only did it still not find the subfile, but it made all my other subfiles not detected, so I turned it back on. Is there any way of adding a grid or something and doing it manually?

Re: my skin doesn't detect subfile
You can drag a subfile widget from the widget toolbar in the designer.
If you do that, I woudl turn off automatic detection for the particular screen you're working on. You can do this by turning off subfile detection in the screen-level properties (so it only affects the screen you're working on.)
