That URL should always give you a JavaScript error on both releases. (And I've tested it on a 5.0.4 installation here, and indeed, it does give the error.)
But, normally, Atrium wouldn't use a URL like that, instead it'd have a URL that points to the Atrium menu item. You'd only have a URL like that one if you launched it as a "Web Application" (instead of a Rich DIsplay or Genie Macro, which would be a strange thing to do.)
I suspect that on your 5.0.4 box, you have Atrium using a Genie macro to start the program. Or maybe you modified your start.html to load Genie into memory (that seems less likely) but one way or another, you're going to get this error on any release where Genie hasn't been loaded into memory.
