Tips, Open Source, Working Examples, Combined Projects

Post by robhathome2 »

David/Scott

I've been having these thoughts for awhile now (no, not the dark scary ones!).

Is there any way of adding a new section to the boards whereby tips / open source / working examples /combined projects can be made available. All of us AS400'ers tend to be a very helpful bunch, in the main, and I'd be willing to try and contribute.

For example, maybe someone has coded handling QSYSOPR (or any other message queue) through the GUI and is willing to make their code available then it would mean I can borrow it (with appropriate thanks and references in the code) rather than having to re-invent the wheel. Similarly, if someone has done something smart (such as on this post) then this could go in there. Great examples of grids, styles, designs etc. would be fantastic. And some of the really smart stuff that lifts displays beyond GUI versions of green screens. I appreciate that there are innumerable javascript websites out there but real working examples within ProfoundUI will mean so much more. I'm still scratching the surface with PUI but even I've managed to do some smart things (IMHO) and would happily share them without the business sensitive data.

Thoughts?

Rob, I moved your post into it's own thread (seemed like it would get more attention that way.)

I'd love it if people would post more tips, sample programs, etc here. That would be great! In fact, that is one of the things these forums are intended to be used for -- so I don't really think we need to add a new topic for it, you can post your tips, samples programs, open source, etc right here in these forums as they exist today.
