Web App or Rich App display overlaying display of other Tabs

Post by hbi »

I have a situation where some menu Items are opened as Tabs in the Atrium framework.

Then I open a new Menu Item, either Web App or Rich App with an iFrame, referencing an url
holding a PDF or starting a 5250 session (MochaSoft).

The PDF is displayed in the Tab and the 5250 session starts.

But when I go back to one of the other opened Tabs the resulting display for that Tab
is in the background and overlayed by the PDF or 5250 session.
In sone cases I can manage getting the PDF or 5250 session 'overlay' to disappear by some clicking on that 'overlay' so the content of the chossen tab shows up.

This behaviour does NOT occur when showing a 'normal' website in the url supplied.

The difference between the 'normal' website and the PDF or 5250 session is the PDF and 5250 session includes a menu bar (save PDF, print PDF etc.) and I think this is the reason for the not disappering display when moving to another Tab.

Attached a screen shot from the situation.
Content from the Tab Test Show Joblog PDF is displayed, Tab Select Bill of Lading is selected but shows up in the background (you can see corners of the blue/gray panel top left and right) and overlayed by the PDF from the prev. Tab selected.

Has anybody discovered a similar situation or does the descibed scenario work elsewhere.

We will definitely look into this. Some additional questions, what browser (including version) are you using? Does this occur in other browsers?

Hi Brian.
As of today I have discovered this situation on 3 different PC all runiing IE9.
I had not the opportunity to test on other browsers yet.
Pls ask further whenever needed.

Helge,

Unfortunately, this behavior is out of our control. The adobe plugin forces itself on top of whatever is in the browser. I would recommend that you have the PDF (and Mochasoft if it has the same issue) open in a new browser window.

Hi Brian.

Maybe out of PUI control but this works without problems in Valence, a similar setup as Atrium.
The attached screen shot shows I am currently on a app (Ticket) and exactly the same view of a PDF abd 5250 session has been activated before that.

No forced overlay by the two previuos tabs used.

I think it's a PUI problem, not Adobe or Mochasoft.

Brian is correct on this.

The problem of the flash player (and some other browser plug-ins) of overlaying the other browser content is well known, see here:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15523.html

It can be resolved by adding a parameter in the page where the embedded content is created. I assume that this was done in those pages you are loading in Valence.

But, if you link to page that is outside of your control and this page is not set up this way...

Hi David and Brian.

The link used in PUI and Valence is identical

You are welcome to try it.

No, nothing special was setup to show the PDF or Mochasoft in the Valence framework. It's
just executing the same url as used in Atrium.

Looking a bit further, I've found that there is a bit more to it.

Currently the trouble is only in Internet Explorer; FireFox and Chrome do hide the "plug in" content when the containing tab is hidden.

We've found a workaround to allow IE to hide that content when the tabs are hidden in Atrium. We can put this in as a modification for the next update to PUI/Atrium.
