Hi there,
I recently stumbled upon a quite annoying thing.
I have several grids on a tab panel. While I worked on my display file every now and then my grids would lose their "parent tab panel" and "parent tab" properties without me knowing how, why and when.
Meaning a horrible mess of overlaying grids on the tabs that 'forgot where they belong'.
After being laughed at from a colleague who claimed I might be deleting them by accident I finally saw a only briefly visble message about the grid being removed from the panel appearing at the bottom left corner after I clicked the grid.
I just clicked it, haven't moved it one pixel.
So that's what happened and why the grids kept losing their "homes".
However if I click the grid in its header section this won't cause the problem.
So my question is this a bug or working as supposed?
Grids keep losing their "parent tab panel" and "parent tab" ?

Hello Megan,
of course. It's Profound UI Version 6, Fixpack 0.3 .
And this happens in the Visual Designer. Hope that helps.
KInd regards

Hi Apprentice,
I have been experiencing an issue with similar behavior as yours, and I finally determined what is causing it & opened up a support ticket. They were able to duplicate the problem (issue #4612).
This is the synopsis of the ticket:
I have a tab panel, and within the tab panel, a layout for each tab (I realize that there is now a Tab Panel Layout widget – I haven’t played with this yet).
When going to drag an element within the tab panel, I accidentally clicked outside of the element’s area, and clicked on the layout itself. I then proceeded to move the layout. As soon as I realized what I had done, I had pressed Control-Z to undo.
All seemed normal from the designer standpoint (all elements still appear to be there).
However – when I go to run the project (or go into Preview mode), there is no data on the tab screen.
It seems that an undo (Control-Z) after accidentally moving the layout outside of the tab panel restores the Parent Tab Panel property, but not the Parent Tab. Parent Tab is blank. At first, I thought that perhaps this was only the case when Parent Tab = 0, but it turns out to be the case all the time.
So in short, if you move the layout, and then use Control-Z to undo, the Parent Tab isn't being properly reset.
Perhaps it is a similar situation that you're encountering with the grids?

Re: Grids keep losing their "parent tab panel" and "parent tab" ?
Hello Apprentice,
Thank you for the additional information. If Dan's response did not assist you, could you please tell me which tab panel widget you are using? There are now 2 tab panel widgets in Profound UI Version 6 Fix Pack 0.3. Are you using the tab panel from the Common/Tab Panels category or the tab panel layout from the Layouts category? If you are not using the tab panel layout, could you please try using this widget instead? This tab panel functions more like a container and provides extra functionality that the previous tab panel did not. I will investigate the issues with the loss of property values further as well.
Thanks,
