Download Excel to Profound

Post by rjiron »

what are the different steps to download an excel file via profound?

I did create my profound file and my free rpgle, when I do the Drag/Drop I'm getting the error (The object name specified is not correct)
I would like to know what is missing or where I put the object name?

Hello rjiron,

Could you please provide us with additional information for what you are trying to accomplish? Are you using Universal Display Files to create dynamic text output, or are you trying to create a Rich Display Application that the user will interact with inside of the web browser?

If you are creating a Rich Display Application, are you trying to allow the user to upload an excel file onto the IBM i system or are you trying to use the export to excel feature that allows the user to download a subfile grid from the server to their local PC?

The more information we have on the subject, the better we will be able to assist you!

Hi Kyle,
Yeah, I'm creating a Rich Display Application and allow the user upload excel file into IBM i
I'm using the Input Control (File Upload (drag/drop) and when I do the drop I'm getting the message (The object name specified is not correct)

Just I wondering if that Upload goes into the IFS first and then if is move it into traditional IBM i file or what is really the function behind the Drag/Drop process.

Thank you in advance for your support with this important matter.

Hello rjiron,

Thank you for the additional information. Could you send us a screen dump (Ctrl-F9) of the affected screen where you're experiencing this problem? To do this, visit the problem screen and press Ctrl-F9. When you are prompted to save or open the file, save the file and email it to support@profoundlogic.com. Once we receive the file I will investigate this further and will let you know what I find.
