Sortable columns not working for all columns
I have sortable columns set to TRUE in a grid. However, the last 3 columns of the grid are the only ones that will sort. I click on a column other than the last 3 and it either does nothing, or it displays the directional triangle and does nothing. I am enclosing screen shots. I tried clearing my browser. I have other screens with sortable columns that work just fine. This is the first time I have run into an issue with them not working. Thank you for any assistance you can provide... Patti

Re: Sortable columns not working for all columns
Patti,
Something simple and you may have already done this but take a look at your element list and make sure your subfile/grid row fields are in the correct order. Don't know if this will have any bearing on the sort or not but couldn't hurt to look.

Re: Sortable columns not working for all columns
Thanks for the suggestion, Eric. I did not check the element list. After checking, it appears that my issue is not that the elements are out of order, but that there are elements in the grid definition that are leftover from the file I copied this from . I thought I had deleted everything from the prior display file as they are not visible on the grid. However, they all still appear in the element list... I removed all of the old elements and now all of the columns sort properly. Patti

Re: Sortable columns not working for all columns
DDS conversion will convert any hidden fields in the green-screen subfile into widgets that are positioned off the screen (using negative numbers for the top/left positions) so that they aren't visible.
The "sortable columns" feature will always sort by the first field it finds in that column. (Since you can potentially place multiple widgets in a grid column, it's very possible to have multiple fields in a column.) This, unfortunately, includes the hidden fields that are placed off the screen.
So what you found here is an issue that comes up occasionally... a customer has a hidden field in the column and when sorting, it sorts by that hidden field instead of the one they expected, which is confusing. And, of course, if that field is blank/zero (or, really, any value that's been repeated to all rows of the subfile) it won't appear to sort at all.
So... if anyone else runs into this problem, you can fix it by moving the fields around so that the one you want to sort by is the first one. (Or, if the field is no longer used, you can remove it entirely, as Patti did.)
Glad you figured it out!
