PC Listener

Post by bruceanthony »

The operations team here is deploying the PC Listener to all PC's (200 plus PC's) in our organization.
They have found a way to deploy on an automated basis but they do have the following question:

Profound PC Listener will not stop the process if I try to re-install the program. I need to know if Profound has a way to deal with that issue.

I haven't heard of this before, but it seems likely that you're just the first person to run across it.
Please report bugs to support@profoundlogic.com, thanks!

This command can be used to stop the listener from the command line:

Code: Select all

taskkill /f /im pccommand-listener.exe
If you're using a batch script you could put that command before the install command.

The taskkill command works fine. You made the ops staff here very happy.
They do have another question:

Is there a way to prevent the listener information bubble from showing up in lower right corner of the screen during PC start up.

Attached is a snapshot of the bubble.

I don't see any way to disable that notification bubble from appearing. But we can create a Feature Request to make the bubble configurable, if you'd like.

We need a feature request.

We have deployed the pc-listener but management has requested that we disable the notification bubble ASAP. We can find no way to automatically update 200 plus PC's so that the notification bubble becomes disabled.

Can you please enhance the pc-listener to have a registry entry or some other means to allow for the disabling of the notification bubble.
Can you also give us some idea when this might be available?

Although we do not need to change the listening port, consideration for making this configurable might also be helpful in the future.

Thank you.

To place a feature request, please e-mail support@profoundlogic.com

It is too difficult to track bugs or feature requests posted to the forums. Forums also get the absolute lowest priority of all of our tasks. This is a good place to ask "how-to" questions, but it is not a good place to make feature requests or report bugs.
