Hi everyone,
We would like to install a new profound ui version such as 5.1.4 automatically in the middle of the night when no one is working on our productive system i server.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to time and automate the profound installation process and how can we do it ?
2. Is it possible to install a new profound version while users are working and is it active after a user logout/login ?

Christoph,
1) Unfortunately, we do not currently have a way to automate the install process. The process requires you to answer questions (where PUI should be installed, what port number, whether to install the HTTP configuration or whether you'll modify yours manually, etc)
You could, potentially, put in a feature request to allow the installation to be automated if that is important to you.
2) We do not recommend updating while users are using the Profound UI instance. The installer will end the HTTP server for the instance, update the Profound UI programs, files and IFS objects, and then will restart the instance. If a user is using the instance during the install, he/she will get an error and their session will be ended, they will have to end the session and re-start it after the installation is complete.

Dear Profound Support,

This would be very helpful for us because our productive server is in use almost 24 hours. We only have a small window between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. when no one is working on our server.

We could also call a system i server command or a program and time it ourselves via wrkjobscde (or a sbmjob) if that's easier for you.
