Hello,
i think that there is no solution for my problem. Nevertheless i will tell you, what our users want:
Until now our users worked via "System i Access" from IBM. This emulation has a very useful feature: You can mark a rectangle and copy the marked text to the clipboard. Then you can paste the text into an editor in another session.
Now we want to change from System i Access to Genie/ProfoundUI for all users. But some users very often want to copy text from the screen and paste that text into another application. We tried a lot to give that users a way to do this. But we did not find a satisfying solution.
If we mark a Genie-mask which has editable fields, the content of the fields is not copied. Furthermore there are no linefeeds in the pasted text.
Then we tried to use the print preview. If you copy from the preview you get linefeeds. But in the pasted text the content of the input fields is not shown at the fields but at the end of the text.
Then we tried to capture the whole browser window with "Snipping Tool". This works, but of course we don't get text but we get a graphic. We can't paste the graphic to our editors in the other applications.
I know that for debugging you have implemented Ctrl F9. With this function you can save the content of a screen to a JSON-file. Is there a possibility to save the data as simple text with linefeeds without other control characters?
Maybe you have an idea.
Dieter

Re: Copy Text from Browser Session
This has been a common request -- lots of people would like this.
Unfortunately, the copy/paste is really handled by the browser, so there's not much we can do to control how it works.

Re: Copy Text from Browser Session
Hi,
I was about to enter a new topic, but saw this existing post matching my question. Several years have passed since this post was responded to, but I thought I'd ask if any new developments or 3rd party tools have been discovered to help facilitate this request. Copying and pasting multiple input fields at one time is something several of our users do on a daily basis and unfortunately is a step down when using Genie unless there is a workaround.
Thanks.
