Hi,
We use loadPCCommandApplet() and runPCCommand(xxxxxxx) repsectively to run some of our external Crystal reports.
Some of our PCs have automatically downloaded the Java 7 update 25 which is causing Java error:- TypeError: Object doesn't support property or method 'runCommand'.
By de-installing the update these functions run as expected.
Is there a fix for this at this stage or do we have to have to prevent further Java updates?
Regards
Brett

Thanks, Brett. We will take a look and see what we can do to fix this.

Re: Java Update Stops RunPCCommand Functioning
We're finding (in our own testing) that updating to Java 7u25 is 'breaking' the entire Java plug-in for Internet Explorer.
After updating some PCs here to 7u25, the Java plug-in does not seem to activate in Internet Exploer for any applets, including the Java version check applet here (Do I Have Java?):
http://www.java.com
In other browsers like FireFox and Chrome, applets work with 7u25, including our STRPCCMD.
I think Oracle have broken something for IE with this update -- we're looking around now to see if there is any bug report or workaround.

Re: Java Update Stops RunPCCommand Functioning
We were able to get the Java 7u25 plug-in working again in Internet Explorer by removing all Java versions and doing a clean re-install of 7u25.
Apparently this is an issue with the update from Oracle, we found some sites that were instructing users to uninstall and re-install Java to fix the problem.
We tried this and it did fix it right up -- after doing so, the plug-in (and of course STRPCCMD) work fine with 7u25.
Oracle recommends to uninstall all old Java versions, anyhow, for security purposes. Try getting rid of all of them (including 7u25), re-installing, and let us know how it works.

Re: Java Update Stops RunPCCommand Functioning
Thanks David,
We did a clean install of v7u25, no previous version of Java loaded, on a windows 8 machine, and had the same problem.
I have given your advice over to the network techs, who have to run around getting everyone's software in synch, and they will be trying your suggestions.
Will let you know the results when they have done some more investigation.

Re: Java Update Stops RunPCCommand Functioning
Yes, please let us know how it works out. In our testing, an uninstall/re-install definitely corrected the problem.
For us, the problem was that the Java plug-in was not functional at all in Internet Explorer, let alone our applet for STRPCCMD.
If you are still having trouble, can you try to run any applet? For example, you can go here and click on the 'Do I have Java?' link to run the version check applet from Oracle:
http://www.java.com
I think you'll find that on the problematic PCs, that the Java plug-in does not activate at all, and cannot run any applet.
Is that the case?
