I'm not sure if this is supposed to be functional or not, but when i rename the ID for my tab panel it does not rename the parent tab field for all of the widgets on that tab panel. It seems like it might rename one or two, but that's it.
For example i have a tab panel with about a dozen different widgets on it. I rename the tab panel, and when i run the screen only one widget shows up. I discovered the problem was all of the widgets except the one still had the old name for parent tab field.
I did this again recently, renaming the tab panel, and this time it seems like it renamed 3-4 of the widgets for me but left the rest with the old tab panel name.
I would think if you rename a panel, then it would go ahead and automatically rename all of the elements that are associated with that panel to keep them in place.

Re: Renaming tab panel
This happens for the field set (and probably any container widget i imagine). I renamed the field set and all of the fields that were on it did not update to the new name, thus disassociating them with it.
