RPGsp vs Profound UI
We have been using RPGsp for about 3.5 years now and are very pleased. Profound UI looks like a great development tool. What would be the pro’s and con’s of using it over RPGsp, given that we have developed several sites using RPGsp, each having real-time integration to our backend ERP system? Is UI slated to be the main product going forward? Jim

Re: RPGsp vs Profound UI
The real advantage to Profound UI is that you do not need to learn web technologies like HTML/CSS, etc, to become productive with it.
It takes a different approach where you are coding display file applications, basically, but with a much more capable display file.
This makes it a lot easier to get going for the RPG developer that is new to web.
All that being said, RPGsp is exteremely flexible and you can do just about anything with it. It does require, though, that you learn a lot about web technologies.
As a customer who has used it for many years this is probably not an issue anymore.
As for the future, RPGsp is mature so you will not see as many updates there. Profound UI is new since April 2010 and as such is seeing a lot of new features and development.

Re: RPGsp vs Profound UI
Thanks David. I assume the handler provides the stateful conversation so the RPG program doesn't need to. Very nice.

Re: RPGsp vs Profound UI
That's absolutely correct. The handler provides the top-down, stateful environment. So the RPG program looks and runs like a green-screen display file program, basically.
Except now you have a display file with modern UI capabilities...
