can we do ajax call to load a Profound grid?

Yes, you can use AJAX calls to load Profound UI grids. This documentation page explains the necessary structure for the web service:
http://www.profoundlogic.com/docs/display/PUI/Data+URL

The grid property, "data url" is what needs to be set to make the grid use AJAX calls to load data.
