Question:
If a run-time error occurs how can I best report the exact details of the error?

Response:

To capture a log file:

1. Call Genie in your browser like this: http://iSeriesIP:460/genie/genie.pgm?debug=Y

The ‘Y’ is case sensitive, so it needs to be in uppercase.

2. You should see some debug information on the screen – Genie is now logging 5250 data to the LOG5250P file.

3. Sign on to a session in Genie. After signing in and reaching the initial screen, clear the LOG5250P file using CLRPFM on your command line. This will remove data that was captured during your sign on – i.e. the user name and password.

4. Navigate to the menu option that brings up the window, and use it to make the problem occur.

5. Go to a 5250 emulation session and save the LOG5250P file to a SAVF.

6. Transfer the SAVF to your PC and attach to an email.
