Problems using forum search

I am having problems finding possible solutions to problems that I am having using the search facility in this forum. For example searches for "grid" and "window" returns the following:

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: grid window.

Other words giving similar results include "database", "subfile" and "server".

Can something be done to allow for these searches to retrieve results?

We are aware of some problems with the search -- apologies.

We are working on ways of improving this functionality.

I have instituted a change to the search engine that should help. Your search terms should no longer be labeled as "common" terms. Please try a few terms in the search engine and let me know if you get better results.

another method that works well for me is to search the forums using google search engine with the "site:" search suffix.
for example, to find this topic, enter into the google search engine the following :-

Code: Select all

"Problems using forum search" site:http://www.profoundlogic.com/forums/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=53
it should return a link to this thread
