is there a possibility to define an overlapping field within a grid.
e.g. the field of column 1 spreads along to column 3.

No, that is not possible if the fields are in separate cells.

What customers often do for that scenario is set their grid to have only one cell, and put multiple fields inside that cell. When doing this, it is possible for the fields to ovelap since they are in the same cell.
