Profound UI programs on iPad

Post by dcutter »

I've been testing Profound UI programs on an iPad and have run into a couple of issues. When running the programs using Safari on iPad, scroll bars don't show up. Although if you use two fingers "just right", sometimes you can scroll, but it's very hard to do. Also, charts don't seem to be showing up on iPad either. I was wondering if there is something I should do differently for programs that would be run on an iPad?

Originally we tested Profound UI on the software development kit for the iPad and the scroll bars did render correctly. You are correct though, on a real iPad the grid widget does not have a scroll bar.

We are now working on this issue with an actual iPad.

Thanks. Oh, and I also couldn't get the drag and drop to work on the iPad.

We are making progress on this. In our next release, both grid scrolling and drag-and-drop will work on touch devices.

Thank you so much!! One more thing I discovered . . . charts don't show up on the iPad either.

Our charts widgets are based on flash. Unfortunately, iPad devices do not support flash. Sounds like Apple wants to kill the flash technology :)

There are some alternatives that will become available as HTML5 gains more ground (there is no estimated date for when the HTML5 spec. will be finalized). However, until then, we are limited to the use of flash and restrictions of the iPad with our charts widgets.
